Read on as Nico Rosberg wins ahead of team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Nico Rosberg wins the Austrian grand prix ahead of team-mate Lewis Hamilton and Williams’s Felipe Massa.
Only one safety car appeared on the first lap when Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen came together but no further action was taken. There was also a lot more overtaking and no “lifting and coasting!”
Nico Rosberg got a slightly better start than Lewis Hamilton and got the lead into turn 1. The safety car came out at the end of lap 1 and it stayed out till lap 7. Jenson Button made it a double retirement for McLaren – Honda as he retired on lap 10. Marcus Ericsson gets a drive through penalty for jumping the start. Lap 33 and race leader Rosberg comes into the pits having a 2 second gap to Hamilton. Lap 35 and Hamilton pits but Rosberg still holds the advantage. Lap 36 and Sebastian Vettel pits but there is a problem with the right rear and that allows Felipe Massa to take third. Lap 51 and Daniel Ricciardo pits and takes his 5 second penalty. Lap after lap Vettel closes down on Massa. Massa does well and holds off the challenge. It’s the final lap and Rosberg is on his team radio about vibrations with the car but makes it to the finish and wins.

I actually thought it was a better race than in Canada with no signs of lifting and coasting. I was impressed by Nico Hulkenberg after winning the Le mans, has been supreme all week and Pastor Maldonado for the second race in running in the points. I do feel sorry for Button and Alonso for McLaren – Honda, I hope they can get their car and engine together and be more competitive
